Exciting 15-25 knots of westerly winds provided the ideal playground for today’s two races in Hyeres. We stayed true to our strategy of putting solid scores on the board and sealed the deal with a 3rd and 2nd place. Our closest competition had two not so great races so by the end of the day we now have a big enough lead to win the regatta without sailing the last race tomorrow. Our team is very proud and happy about this as tomorrow we get to sleep in and beat everyone to the crane!

It has truly been a great regatta with solid breeze (underlined by the fact that we used a stiffer set of battens in the main sail for the whole event!). We are thrilled to have won this event in good breeze after winning the Worlds last year in light – medium breeze, showing that we have what it takes to sail well in a multitude of conditions.

It’s already been a long season, but the ultimate event, the Worlds in Miami, are still ahead of us and we will need to keep on improving in order to have a shot of being with the front pack.

We wish to thank our sponsors who have made it possible for us in the first place to actually partake in all these events at such a high level. EFG bank has been a strong supporter of the Swiss Melges 24 program since 2008 and with them we have climbed through the fleet. Our partnership with Quantum Sails has allowed us to sail with the fastest sails out there. It’s been great to work along side Carlo Fracassoli and the US design team with Scott Nixon and Doug Stewart to continuously improve an already great product. Magic Marine is at the forefront of sailing apparel and they keep us dry and at the right temperature while still letting us do all the work on board. Raptor Deck with Dan Kaseler as always give us the best looking and performing soft deck on the market. Hutchinson Sports bring all the right gadgets to our program so we can focus on sailing and not dealing with details.

Thank you for your support!

For this regatta we also brought a new team member, our cook Antonella, on board. She provided us with some absolutely fantastic cooking, thus keeping all of the crew well fed and very happy. She did an amazing job and she was instrumental in our success at this regatta. Thank you Antonella! We also wish to thank Ekaterina & Varvara, Nikoly’s wife and daughter, for being great shore support and watching Connor, our ten-month-old son, while we were battling it out on the water.

Now its time to celebrate and let it sink in a bit before we head out to our next adventure….

Best winning regards from Hyeres, France

Dani, Chris, Matteo, Nikolay and Pade.
