The second day of racing is complete. We had yet another day of breeze and waves, exactly what the Melges 24 fleet ordered. There was a lot of excitement on the course with rigs coming down, rudders breaking, and more. The EFG Sailing Team had a better day today, but we are just not as polished as the top of the pack. We were able to improve our downwind speed, which was very encouraging.
Embarr is by far the fastest boat out there and is setting the bar pretty high. But our Italian friends on Maidollis are right on their heals and will be ready if Embarr makes a mistake. With half of the regatta over the EFG Sailing Team is going to continue to improve. The name of the game is starting more towards the favored end of the line and keeping a clear lane to maximize our speed potential and capitalizing on wind shifts.
Tomorrows forecast is finally calling for a bit less wind, so the dynamics on the race course could get shaken up a bit.
