Persico69FLET'S GO SAILING
69F SAILING IN
NORTH AMERICA
The 69F Sailing crew are putting a NA circuit together for next year, starting off in Miami at the end of January and moving North and then West for the rest of the season.
The following dates have been confirmed:
Grand Prix 1 – Miami
- Event 1.1 Jan 25th – Jan 30th (Bacardi Regatta)
- Event 1.2 Feb 22nd – Feb 27th
Grand Prix 2 – Miami
- Event 2.1 March 8th – March 13th (Barcardi Invitaonal Regatta)
- Event 2.2 March 14th – March 19th
The 69F Sailing Crew is really well organized, on-shore and on-the-water. You have to get used to the racing format and the race courses, but that is part of the learning experience.
The boats are built to the highest standards, are fast, foil effortlessly, and can take a beating. I have personally done a few nose dives at over 30 knots and walked away with no scratches (although my ego was a bit bruised). Fortunately, the boats can quickly be righted by 2-3 people standing on the foils.
You will find a ton of useful information on their website: https://69fsailing.com/
Be sure to check out the “Download” section. Lots of great info on the boat and the kind of racing they are promoting.

Apart from single day of testing, they also offer one-week packages (3 day practice/3 day racing), which gives you and your team enough time to learn the basics of the boat and do some proper racing.
The price tag of USD 20k includes:
- 6 days of boat usage
- Some basic coaching including presentations of foiling theory and more topics
- Tow in/out to racecourse (if you don’t have your own coach)
- All daily maintenance
- Entry fee and Insurance
All you need to do is roll up with your team and go sailing. At the end of a sailing day, they help you get the boat out of the water, you tell them if anything needs to be fixed, and you go drink beers with the team. It makes the racing experience a lot more relaxed, when you can just walk away from the boat.
After every racing day (including the practice days with a racecourse set) there is a video debrief, usually done by Italian Sailing legend Dede de Luca, which is very useful for first-timers.

On my part, I would love to help your team get started in the class, either in a sailing or a coaching role. My experience as a pro-sailor with owner/driver and also personally helming the 69F will allow the team to get up and running quickly.
